What is SIMS doctoral research about? |
|||
|
At a research university like Berkeley, we seek the frontier of information management and systems, researching the greatest opportunities and most difficult challenges. An ideal PhD research project in SIMS addresses some specific opportunity or challenge surrounding information management and systems and brings to bear all relevant disciplinary perspectives in ways that would be unlikely to be supported or appreciated in another school or college. The student will typically take courses both within SIMS and in other schools and colleges. Students from other schools and colleges are encouraged to collaborate with SIMS faculty and students, with the goal of shifting their perspective incrementally toward the interdisciplinary approach in SIMS, to make a positive impact on information management and systems, and to develop fundamental insights that they can take back to their respective disciplines.
