How large is SIMS?

We currently have 14 faculty. Some of these have joint appointments in other schools and colleges, but some faculty from other schools and colleges also teach courses in SIMS. We also draw on lecturers and adjunct faculty, particularly from local industry.

We have deliberately kept our student body small so that we can concentrate on an intensive and quality educational experience. We have only graduate students in our department: our target for the masters programs is about 40 students in each graduating class. The close-knit body of students takes many courses together, works on projects together, and develops lifelong professional relationships. In addition, we have about 15 students in our doctoral program. Doctoral students from other schools and colleges also work with SIMS faculty.

While the School itself is small, SIMS exists in the context of a large urban research university, with all the social, cultural, and educational opportunities that affords.
