Recruiting SIMS Students: how to
recruit SIMS students Message from the Dean
Our students know how to organize information, how to design usable interfaces, how to search effectively, how to keep information secure, how to assess and evaluate information needs, and how to manage projects. Most importantly, they understand the economic and social environment in which their organization functions and are familiar with the relevant issues in law, economics, ethics, and management. This profession is inherently multidisciplinary, requiring aspects of computer science, cognitive science, business, law, information studies, and communications. Our graduates have found employment in major corporations, government offices, the media industry, libraries, and academic institutions. They work as consultants, information architects, Web designers, project managers, usability experts, and in a variety of other areas. With the ever-growing supply of information, we foresee a growing need for professionals who know how to manage it effectively.
